Stress is optional

We create our own stress. I have decided that stress is optional and I am choosing not to participate.

You see, we can cause ourselves stress in several ways.

1. Worry – Why worry about something we have no control over or something we fear in our future when it may not even happen? If we have control over something, we don’t have to worry we can just take action. Living in the now moment helps stop worry.

2. Piling too much work on ourselves or allowing others to do so – haven’t you heard it never all gets done?

3. Allowing ourselves or others to pile guilt on us – guilt is based on the past. We can do whatever we can to right what happened and then learn from the experience so it does not happen again. That is the best we can do. It is more important that we live in the present.

All our stresses fall into one of these three categories. All these things are choices we make. We choose to worry or not. We choose whether we stress over work and we choose whether we allow ourselves to feel guilt or not. Stress is totally optional. We always have control over our focus.

By the way, when we choose to not participate in creating stress for ourselves, we do not have to participate in others stress either. Hmm, that’s a great side benefit.

With great love, Suzanne
